Malaysia Ranks amongst the World’s Highest for Motor Vehicle Theft

An average of 60 cars get stolen every day across the country, said the General Insurance Association of Malaysia’s (PIAM) chief executive officer Mark Lim.

This makes Malaysia the sixth highest in the world for motor vehicle thefts.

According to Lim, insurance companies incurred RM14.7 million daily in claims for accidents, damages and theft. Amounting to a total of RM5.38 billion, stated the New Straits Times.

The most frequently stolen car models were the Proton Wira (654), Toyota Hilux (537), and the Perodua Kancil (378), in respective order.

However, it’s not all downhill from here. In recent years, vehicle insurance claims have declined by 23 per cent from 2016 to 2017, according to PIAM.

There are multiple ways to prevent your car from being stolen, such as installing a GPS tracker to monitor your vehicle in real-time, locking your steering wheels, or installing an immobiliser.

FindMe provides tracking solutions for personal vehicles, small businesses, and large corporate fleets. From portable, lightweight trackers, to comprehensive data-driven, customisable operations––ensuring all-comprehensive protection for your vehicles.

The TrackLite device makes sure you and your family are safe with real-time tracking and an SOS button that sends your location coordinates (to alert authorities — double check this?) in the case of an emergency.

It’s easier to install than you’d think. The TrackMove tracker can be easily plugged in vehicles and doesn’t need any wiring. It also analyses data on mileage, fuel consumption, driving behaviour data and more.
