FindMe’s GPS tracking solutions are provided by PNMB InnoVentures, a subsidiary of printing solutions provider Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad (PNMB). PNMB InnoVentures’ Chief Executive Officer, Hedzri P. Jaafar, recently talked about how FindMe is taking traditional GPS tracking a step further, as well as its goals in the Malaysian and international markets.
1. How does FindMe take GPS technology beyond traditional uses by using Internet-of-Things technology?
H: With advancements in mobile phone technology, GPS technology has been made more accessible to people around the world.
The use of GPS technology is no longer just about tracking, but about how data regarding location is used. By combining GPS trackers with vehicular Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors, we can now capture various other data including vehicle diagnostics, driver identification, temperature monitoring and more.
With FindMe, you can now monitor the completion of tasks, manage your fleet’s efficiency, ensure vehicular safety and even influence ethical driving behavior. All of this can be streamlined in a comprehensive manner through FindMe’ smart mobility platform with applications in fleet management, asset tracking, people tracking and more.
2. Why was PNMB InnoVentures formed and how did it decide to make its way into the GPS market with FindMe?
H: Recently, Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad (PNMB) adopted a new digital transformation plan, which includes technologies such as product authentication, as well as GPS tracking solutions, all of which are an extension of PNMB’s expertise in document authentication and delivery.
From there, PNMB InnoVentures was incorporated and tasked with the development and commercialization of GPS tracking solutions.
3. FindMe features a user-friendly subscription model. Is that how it sets itself apart from other GPS tracking providers in Malaysia?
H: Yes, FindMe’s advantage lies in our all-inclusive subscription model, which eliminates the need for large capital expenditure in hardware and software development. Our solutions are based on monthly subscription fees—with all devices, data plans, warranty and support included.
Customers also gain access to both our web-based administration portal and mobile application, which are frequently updated to the latest operating system specifications. FindMe’s platform comes with a comprehensive set of ready-to-use features, which can be customised according to the customer’s requirements. Furthermore, our customers are backed by FindMe’s responsive local team of software, device and vehicle engineering experts.
4. Which industries will FindMe benefit most?
H: Our solutions are applicable and beneficial to multiple industries including the logistics industry, car rental/leasing industry, corporate fleets, public transportation companies or any organization that operates large numbers of vehicles.
Moreover, we provide solutions for individual consumers, whether for theft prevention or for general tracking.
5. What are the short-term and long-term goals for FindMe in Malaysia—and beyond?
H: We are now focused on growing our local customer base while supporting the achievement of their business objectives, whether it is automating their fleet management workflow, improving fleet efficiency or supporting them in their overall business growth.
Long-term wise, our focus is firstly to further enhance our technology platform by incorporating various other IoT sensors, collecting richer operational data and incorporating more advanced artificial intelligence for smarter reporting and automation. Secondly, as our platform is offered on SaaS models running on cloud, there is significant opportunity for international expansion with significant cost advantages. To achieve these two goals, we also look forward to collaborations with technology and market expansion partners.
6. The GPS market is expected to grow to USD146.4 billion by 2025 at 18% CAGR, and its uses may diversify even further. How will FindMe adapt to new uses of GPS technology?
H: As with most other technologies, the growth trend is exponential. We believe this will come not only from advancements in GPS technology alone, but also its amalgamation with other new ones to create new applications and opportunities.
At the end of the day however, our customers are our priority. With that, we always seek to understand what problems they face in their daily operations and how we can help them to become more efficient and competitive in their own businesses. In this way, we can also ensure that any new product or solution we launch is relevant to our customers’ business needs.
